Backpack-o-Pet (2003) Set Up Instruction
A. TOP STRUCTURE - The top structure includes one top support bar (1) that goes across the interior roof of the carrier (not available in petite sizes) and two side panels (large (2a), medium and small (2b) sizes, and petite and xs sizes (2c)).1. Attach the top support bar's velcro strip onto the long velcro strip in the center of the interior roof, extending underneath the climate control pouch.(15)
2. Attach the side panels by matching the colored dots to the dots inside the carrier near the side doors' opening and fasten the snap buttons accordingly. The panels should be beneath the climate control pouch but over the top support bar. Attach the velcro strip on the climate control pouch to the long velcro strip on the panels.
[If you're ever in doubt as to which side a panel belongs on, keep this tip in mind: A side panel has three velcro strips, two short strips on top and one longer strip underneath. The longer strip is for the climate control pouch so if a pouch is on the LEFT side, attach its strip to a panel with a long LEFT strip and vice versa.]
B. INTERIOR SUPPORT FRAMES (LARGE SIZES ONLY)- Push in the support frames (3a) so they are on top of the side panels and underneath the floor padding. Slide the panels' velcro strips under the frames and tug them out. Encircle the frames with the velcro and attach.(3b).
C. BOTTOM STRUCTURE
1. Align the velcro strip on the waterproof floor cushion dish (4a) to the velcro strip on the carrier's interior floor and attach.
2. Place the plastic board (4b) inside the floor cushion dish.
3. Attach the velcro strip under the soft padding (4c) to the plastic board's strip and put it inside the floor cushion dish.
D. SIDE VENTILATION - Roll the side curtains inward (5) and attach the velcro strips to the two top strips on the side panels. If the velcro strip positions do not match, please detach the side panels. Reverse the left and right panels and try again.
E. SHOULDER STRAP - Attach the shoulder strap to the D-rings on the side of the carrier. (With plastic buckles, gently press the buckle's lever down on the hook.) (6)
F. BACKPACK STRAPS
1. Attach the backpack strap's left buckle (7b) by matching the colored dot to the dot on the left hook. Once that's done, attach the right strap accordingly.
2. Slide the front extension strap's hook into the front buckle right behind the hand strap (7a)in the front of the carrier.
3. Attach the waist strap extension to the side buckle (7c).
4. With your pet inside the carrier, slide the backpack straps around your shoulders, then attach and adjust the chest strap (7d) to a comfortable position. Attach and adjust the waist strap (7e) to a secure position.
5. Adjust the front extension straps (7a) (see 1 here) so that the carrier is level to the ground.
G. CELLULAR PHONE POUCH - Attach the cellphone pouch (8) to the D-ring. If you're not using the backpack strap, attach it to a location convenient for you. Strap the velcro strip on the back of the cellphone pouch securely.
(Again, if it's a plastic buckle, gently press down the buckle's lever onto the hook.)
H. INSIDE SECURITY LEASH - Attach the inside security leash (9) to the D-ring inside the carrier. Attach the other end to the pet's collar or harness and adjust the length so that the pet can move comfortably inside the carrier.
I. DETACHING/ATTACHING WHEELS AND WHEELING THE CARRIER ALONG (FOR LARGE SIZES ONLY) - Firmly press down the lever (10a) on the wheel holder.
1. To remove the wheels, slide the wheels (10b) out and replace it with the plastic bottom support plate (10c). Do the reverse when attaching the wheels.
2. To pull the carrier along, attach the shoulder strap (6) to the small D-rings (12) on the side of the side doors.
3. If you're using it as a backpack with the wheels on, make sure to cover the side wheels with the covering pouch located toward the bottom of each side (11) to avoid getting the back of your clothes dirty.
J. WATER BOTTLE HOLDER - For regular drinking bottles, simply insert the bottle into the holder and secure the bottle with the elastic strap (13). For water bottles with automatic water dispensing tubes, insert the extension tube through the plastic hole inside the holder, then strap the upside down bottle securely. Turn the bottle to an upright position during vigorous activity or transit in motion to prevent any water leakage through the auto-dispensing tube.
K. CAR SEAT / LUGGAGE STRAP - If you'd like to use the strap in a car or as an attachment to your luggage, slide the strap (14) through the loops on the back of the carrier. Tighten the strap securely. You can tie the loops to a bicycle's front handles securely as well.
L. CLIMATE CONTROL OPTION - Insert a heating or cooling pad (with maximum dimensions of 10"(L) x 4" (W)) or other odor-removing pad to the climate control pouch (15) through the exterior opening or the side zipper opening.
