Please note that 90% of this shipment was rejected and showed up as knock-offs in 2003. Those we sold should have two layers of mesh on all mesh area.

From talking to you pet owners and vendors out there, we implemented many good ideas in our Summer 2001 Pak-o-Pets :

  • Pablo of Pet Market in NYC pointed out the importance of a climate control device as pets can get pretty hot inside the carriers in the summer.
  • A show cat owner (sorry, we can't recall the name) who frequently travels with two cats for shows, stressed the necessity of giving cats their private time and keeping them away from distractions
  • Pet owners mentioned their desire to have the option of not having any backpack straps but just the shoulder straps
  • Pet owners who wanted a strap to secure the carrier in their car
  • Pet owners wanted a carrier that could be wheeled along for their larger size pets

    To address these demands/requests, we added the innovative climate control compartment utilizing heating/cooling pads available in the market for human use; detachable side curtains; shoulder strap; car seat or luggage strap; two new sizes: medium and large (with wheels); an additional mesh behind the front window flap; a horizontal plastic strip and metal frames to strengthen the structure, and more color/fabric choices. The new design was an engineering project that still amazes people.
