"We used to associate small pets with old people, but that's no longer true," designer Angie Yeung says. "More people — even guys — are buying smaller breeds, and they're taking their pets on longer trips." The carrier, which can be worn as a backpack or toted by hand, has interior space for a drip water bottle and ice pack or heat pad, a waterproof base (important on long flights) and exterior pockets for such items as treats, leash or cell phone. Detach the suitcase, which doubles as a doggie booster seat for car trips, and it slides under an airline seat. A small opening in the top allows owners to maintain eye contact with nervous canine fliers, while side privacy flaps hide Fido from view in places he shouldn't be.
