Project Perry, Inc. / The Central Virginia Parrot Sanctuary is accredited in Virginia by the Global Federation of Animal Sanctuaries. It is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, and sanctuary of parrots living in captivity. Their primary mission is to provide exceptional natural environments for the resident birds. The birds can enjoy the enrichment of flight and the togetherness of flock with excellent care provided by a dedicated team of staff and volunteers.

The goal of The Alex Foundation is to support research that will expand the base of knowledge establishing the cognitive and communicative abilities of parrots as intelligent beings. These findings will be used to encourage the responsible ownership of parrots, conservation and preservation of parrots in the wild, and veterinary research into the psychological diseases and care of these birds. Through these efforts The Alex Foundation, and the memory of Alex, will live on and will accomplish its mission to improve the lives of all parrots worldwide.

The first Maltese specialty club of consequence was the Maltese Terrier Club of America, organized in 1906. This club eventually came to be known as the National Maltese Club which held its first specialty at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York on November 30, 1917. By the end of the 1950's there were two Maltese clubs; the Maltese Dog Club of America, formerly the National Maltese Club, and the Maltese Dog Fanciers of America.

The mission of the Humane Society of Concord & Greater Cabarrus County, N. It exists to help prevent the endangerment of birds, extinction of birds, to encourage research and educational programs, and aid in behavioral modifications for birds.
